JOHN E. LIBBY, CPA

I am a young CPA, some would agree that I am a little more aggressive than others when it comes taxes and tax planning but I think that is okay. If we can justify our position and support it with facts then we should go for it. I work with all types of clients but find that most of them are just looking to pay their fair share by taking advantage of any and all deductions, credits and tax strategies available to them. We have to remember that tax laws are created by politicians, many of whom are lobbied daily to add features or loopholes to their bills. Sometimes to bills that are completely unrelated, and thus harder to find. These features and loopholes tend to be added for high net worth individuals and businesses that have the money to lobby, but we all might be able to benefit if we have a professional researching and finding them for us. I enjoy discovering these strategies and applying them to my clients situations whenever I can. I can’t guarantee that I will find all the ways you could benefit or that you will qualify but I will certainly do my best.

About me personally: I have a Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. I am a licensed CPA in Maine and New Hampshire with mobility in Vermont. In addition to being a CPA I am also a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA).

My experience in accounting and audit over the past 10 years ranges from small and regional CPA firms to multi-billion dollar corporations. You could say I have seen it all. As a governmental and not-for-profit auditor I audited municipalities ranging from Maine’s largest cities to small rural towns, including their school systems. Not-for-profit’s included small to medium sized private schools, housing authorities, and youth centers. As an internal auditor for a large paper manufacturer and two public utilities I learned a great deal about the inner workings of large corporations. As a small business owner myself I understand how difficult it is to manage all aspects of a business. I am here to help you reach your goals! or just to vent your daily frustrations and find ways to get through them.

When I am not working I am spending time with my wife and children and building my house in Tuftonboro.
